Deburring
Deburring
Deburring is the metal-cutting removal of burrs, e.g. at edges of burrs such as
they arise at machined treatment of tool parts - or of casting burrs, how they arise
at dimensional tolerances of casting, which are casted in two machined parts.
- In general, it is noticed, that burrs can be removed only then,
when they can be removed manually easily.
- Casting burrs like them, which can be found at soft cast iron
due to dimensial tolerances of dies, can be very rarely removed
by deflashing.
- Burrs at light metal casting, such as they arise at mechanical processes,
e.g. due to milling, boring or drilling, are removable by deflashing.
Deburring of injection moulded plastic parts is possible. Especially plastic blasting abrasives are used for this.
It can't be given a general recommendation of blasting abrasive for deburring.
The decision for the right abrasive must be given by the sigle case of application.
The cinetic energy, which must be raised to remove a burr, also can be too strong
for the other surface and/or the surface finishing.
